Her request was to alert women across the nation that breast cancer can strike any one at any time and of the importance of mammograms and breast self-examinations. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women ages 40 to 59. This translates into a loss of 900 Massachusetts women and 40,800 women across the nation each year.
